Session Description: A trailblazer in the health law field, Goodwin is a Chancellor’s Professor at the University of California, Irvine School of Law and founding director of the Center for Biotechnology and Global Health Policy. She has served on the executive committee of the ACLU and is the author of Policing the Womb: Invisible Women and the Criminalization of Motherhood, among others.
In her keynote address, Goodwin will give an overview of the current status of abortion law in the United States. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the history of reproductive laws in the United States, including American slavery and eugenics. Goodwin will also examine the intersections of race, class, and LGBTQ concerns in contemporary reproductive health, rights, and justice.
