Marcela Smid MD, MA, MS is a board certified Maternal Fetal Medicine and Addiction Medicine physician and Associate Professor at the University of Utah. She is the medical director of the Substance Use & Pregnancy – Recovery, Addiction, Dependence (SUPeRAD) specialty prenatal clinic, a multi-disciplinary clinic for pregnant and postpartum individuals with substance use disorder. She is the Chair Utah Perinatal Mortality Committee and has been a member since 2016. Her research focus is on perinatal addiction, interventions for pregnant and postpartum individuals with substance use disorders, hepatitis C in pregnancy, maternal mortality and maternal mental health.
