Dr. Alex Peahl is an Assistant Professor in the Women’s Health Division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan. She provides comprehensive, patient-centered obstetric and gynecologic care across the lifespan. Dr. Peahl’s research and policy work focuses on improving the effectiveness, equity and experience of maternity care with a focus on two key areas: 1) redesigning prenatal care and 2) improving pain management in pregnancy and at the time of childbirth. Across her areas of expertise, Dr. Peahl consistently employs Human-Centered Design, community engagement, and consensus methodology to center the voices of patients and the complex network of professionals caring for them to develop sustainable solutions to the most challenging problems in healthcare. She is the current chair of the ACOG Redesigning Prenatal Care Initiative, and the leader of the Michigan Plan for Appropriate Tailored Healthcare in pregnancy.
