Dr. David B. Nelson is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with sub-specialty certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He is the Division Chief of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center where he holds the Gillette Professorship of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Dedman Family Scholar in Clinical Care. Previously, he served as the Maternal Medical Director and Chief of Obstetrics at Parkland Health. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, received grant funding for clinical research, and is a contributing author to Williams Obstetrics textbook. He has received a number of individual awards for his academic work. Dr. Nelson has a passion for advocacy, and he provided invited testimony twice to the United States Congress in 2019 and 2020. Recently, Dr. Nelson has led a community-based program titled, “extending Maternal Care After Pregnancy,” that has received the 2022 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award.
