Julie K. Wood, MD, MPH, FAAFP, is the Sr. Vice President for Research, Science and Health of the Public for the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). She serves as an Advisory Panel member for ACOG’s The Women’s Preventive Services Initiative (WPSI). Dr. Wood provides oversight for the public health, scientific, and research activities of the AAFP and oversees efforts to involve family physicians with integration of primary care and public health, providing evidence-based guidance. Prior to joining AAFP in 2013, Dr. Wood was a practicing family physician for nearly 20 years. She earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completed her residency at Via Christi-St. Francis Family Medicine Residency Program in Wichita, Kansas.
